Fires Fonseca, AC Milan Appoints Conceicao as New Coach

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – AC Milan has officially fired coach Paulo Fonseca and appointed FC Porto coach, Sergio Conceicao, as his replacement.

According to a report from European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Rossoneri took this big step towards the end of the year.

“AC Milan has fired Paulo Fonseca. This decision has been confirmed. Sergio Conceicao is the new coach,” wrote Romano via his X account on Monday (30/12/2024).

AC Milan has also confirmed the dismissal of the coach who once managed AS Roma. “AC Milan announces that Paulo Fonseca has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the men’s first team,” said Rossoneri in a statement.

The club thanks Paulo Fonseca for his outstanding professionalism and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.

The decision to dismiss Fonseca was confirmed after the match against AS Roma which ended in a 1-1 draw. This result was considered a decisive moment for Milan, because they failed to close the gap towards qualifying for the Champions League.

Currently, Milan is in eighth place in the Serie A standings with a collection of 27 points. Even though the season is still half way through, they are eight points behind the top four.

Under AC Milan’s new coach Sergio Conceicao, it is hoped that the Rossoneri’s performance will improve and Milan’s position for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season will be better.

According to reports SkyMilan has reached an agreement with the Portuguese coach. Conceicao is scheduled to arrive in Milan on Monday (30/12/2024) to sign a contract valid until June 2026.

This step shows AC Milan’s seriousness in facing big challenges in the second half of the season and maintaining their chances of competing in European competitions next season.

As AC Milan’s new coach, Conceiçao will make his debut on the bench Rossoneri on January 3 2025, in the Supercoppa semifinal against Juventus and his son Francisco who strengthens the Turin club.
