Fixing Indonesian Football Competition, Erick Thohir Will Use Japanese Referees
– In order to improve the quality of competition and refereeing including women’s football in Indonesia, PSSI is working with the Japanese Football Federation (JFA). This collaboration was signed by the General Chairperson of PSSI, Erick Thohir and President of JFA, Tashima Kozho in Japan on Monday (22/5/2023).
In order to improve Indonesian football, Erick Thohir wants this collaboration to be a blessing for Indonesian football. He also asked the Indonesian women’s national team to follow the example of the Japanese women’s national team.
“Hopefully good cooperation for Indonesian football. First, we will focus on cooperation with Japan for the women’s national team. We know that the Japanese women’s national team has a record of winning the U-16, U-20 and world championships. This is what I asked the Japanese coach to be able to train the Indonesian Women’s National Team,” said Erick after signing the collaboration with the Japanese federation.
Apart from that, Erick also wants the Indonesian football competition to mirror that of Japan. He also wants to bring Japanese referees to Indonesia. Currently waiting on names.
“We also encourage benchmarking of national team management, our league and most importantly the referee. Our referee will use a referee from Japan,” he continued.
