Former Argentinian National Team Explains Reasons Why Ronaldo is Better than Messi

Buenos Aires, Beritasatu.com – Former Argentina national team goalkeeper Hugo Gatti made a controversial statement by saying Ronaldo was better than Messi. He explained the reason was because Lionel Messi was considered less experienced in difficult tournaments than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gatti believes that Messi gets many benefits when playing for the Barcelona club, including strong team support, fans who always applaud, and minimal violations against him. Meanwhile, he emphasized that the tournaments Ronaldo participated in were always full of challenges, involving the best players, and were often characterized by physical violations.

Gatti also criticized Messi’s decision to play for Inter Miami in the United States League (MLS), while Cristiano Ronaldo chose to play for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Arabian League. “Messi plays too simple football in America,” added Gatti.

The former goalkeeper also underestimated Messi’s contribution to the Argentine national team. He compared Messi to Argentine legend Diego Maradona, who according to him was always the target of violations on the field. “Messi is rarely violated, unlike Maradona, who is always chased by opponents,” he stressed.

When asked about the possibility of Messi joining Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, Gatti replied, “Maybe, but that would mean Argentina would have to play with one person who is less effective.”
