Former Chelsea Player Oscar Returns to His Youth Club Sao Paulo

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Former Chelsea player Oscar dis Santos Emboaba Junior returned to his youth club, Sao Paulo, Brazil as a free agent in this winter’s transfer window.

The former Brazilian national team player previously played for Chinese club Shanghai Port for eight seasons and decided not to extend his contract.

“I am grateful for the love I have received on social networks in the last few days, I will do my best to conquer great things with the club (Sao Paulo),” Oscar said on Sao Paulo’s Instagram social media as quoted BetweenWednesday (25/12/2024).

The 33 year old player started his professional career with Sao Paulo in 2008. Thanks to his impressive performance over two seasons, the player who plays as an attacking midfielder was brought in by Porto Alegre, which became a controversial transfer because it sparked a long legal dispute between the two clubs.

After that, Oscar received a call to defend the Brazil U-23 national team at the 2012 London Olympics. Oscar was able to present a bronze medal for the Samba team at the championship.

The Blues then brought Oscar to Stamford Bridge after redeeming his contract clause from Porto Alegre. In the Chelsea uniform, Oscar won four trophies, namely two Premier League titles, the Europa League and the English League Cup.

While he was with Chelsea and entering a period of peak performance, Oscar decided to move to Shanghai Port because he received a more attractive salary offer. Now, Oscar has returned to his youth club Sao Paulo.
