Google Rolls Out 1.5 Flash Update to Gemini, Offers Better, Smarter Response

According to a blog post, Google said the tool will offer “proactive prompts,” but users will also be able to ask “free-form” questions.

Quoting The Verge, Tuesday (25/6/2024), this AI Sidebar was developed to utilize Google’s most capable models, for example Gemini 1.5 Pro.

On the Gmail mobile app, Google will be giving Gemini the ability to summarize threads. This AI enhancement could be very helpful, but it is currently only available to paid Gemini users.

If you want to try this feature, users need to be Google Workspace consumers with Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, Gemini Education or Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium.

However, The Verge warns that users of this AI-based service should not rely entirely on this tool when working. Make sure to always double-check the emails Gemini helps you create before sending them.

In addition to email, Google is also rolling out the Gemini sidebar feature to Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive. Google promises that these features are on their way to reaching all users.

There will be a number of AI features announced for Gmail in the future, including Contextual Smart Reply.
