Graham Potter’s Sweet Debut Fails

Birmingham, Beritasatu.com – The third round of the FA Cup on Saturday (11/1/2025) early morning WIB, presents the match between Aston Villa vs West Ham United in Birmingham. In this match, Aston Villa managed to come from behind to beat West Ham 2-1.

Goals from Amadou Onana and Morgan Rogers in the second half were the winner for Villa and also thwarted Graham Potter’s sweet debut as the new manager at West Ham.

The Aston Villa vs West Ham match started with the visitors’ quick lead. Lucas Paqueta scored a goal in the ninth minute after receiving a mature pass from Crysensio Summerville in the penalty box. The Brazilian player fired a targeted shot which the Villa goalkeeper was unable to stop.

Even though they were behind, Villa continued to increase the pressure. Their comeback began in the 71st minute when Amadou Onana scored the equaliser. This goal started from a corner kick which West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski failed to secure perfectly, so Onana was able to use the rebound to equalize the score.

Just five minutes later, Morgan Rogers scored the winning goal. His header from Ollie Watkins’ cross went straight into the corner of the goal, ensuring Villa progressed to the next round.

Apart from the Aston Villa vs West Ham match, League One club (third division) Wycombe Wanderers, advanced to the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Portsmouth. Goals from Brandon Hanlan and Sonny Bradley in the first half ensured Wycombe’s victory over the team from the Championship (second division).
