Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Nervous Facing First Match of Hong Kong Open 2024

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – Gregoria Mariska Tunjung is preparing to face the first match of the 2024 Hong Kong Open. This BWF Super 500 level badminton tournament will be held at the Hong Kong Coliseum from September 10 to 15.

Gregoria, who was absent after winning a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, felt nervous about returning to compete. Having been sick and good results in the last tournament were the reasons for her nervousness.

“Honestly, I feel a bit nervous and tense returning to the tournament. It’s definitely not easy to return to the game after a month of absence, having chicken pox and flu too,” said Gregoria on the sidelines of the Hong Kong Open arena trial, Monday (9/9).

“In addition, you could say that in the last tournament my results were quite good so there is a lot of hope that I can maintain my performance. But, I don’t want to make it a burden, I will make it a motivation,” said Gregoria.

When asked about the field conditions, the badminton player who is familiarly called Jorji said the wind was quite strong. Therefore, he had to adapt faster.

“The field is quite windy but because I have played here several times, I should be able to adjust to it. Hopefully, the first match will be better than today’s training,” said Gregoria.

At the 2024 Hong Kong Open, Gregoria will be accompanied by Putri Kusuma Wardani and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi. Meanwhile, Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo, who was initially registered, had to withdraw due to a left foot injury.
