Hackers steal R$10 million from exchange XT.com

THE cryptocurrency exchange XT.com was the target of a hacker attack, resulting in losses estimated at US$1.7 million (around R$10 million), according to information from blockchain security company PeckShield.
As PeckShield reported in its X account, the hacker converted the stolen funds into Ethereum (ETH) and transferred them to a new wallet created on the Ethereum network.
In an official statement on X, the exchange stated that it identified a abnormal transfer into your platform wallet. However, XT.com assured that users will not be affected for the incident. The exchange also informed that it always maintains reserves 1.5 times larger than the user’s assets in order to guarantee maximum security.

The attack on XT.com is yet another in a series of recent incidents that have hit cryptocurrency trading platforms. In November, as Todaysgist reported, Hackers hacked centralized cryptocurrency exchange M2from where they stole US$13.7 million in digital assets.
Before that, in September, the BingX exchangebased in Singapore, suffered a hacker attack which resulted in the loss of approximately US$50 million in cryptocurrencies.
These attacks reinforce the challenges faced by cryptocurrency brokers in maintaining the security of its systems and protecting users’ funds in an environment that has become increasingly targeted by cyber criminals.
Data from CoinGecko indicate that the XT.com is among the various platforms who are seeking to improve their security infrastructures to prevent further breaches. XT.com is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange established in 2018 and based in Seychelles.
