Liputan6.com, Jakarta – User smartphones either Android or iOS should start being wary of various malicious applications capable of stealing user accounts. Apart from stealing accounts, these malicious applications also attempt to steal users’ money.
To quote Gizchina, Monday (8/5/2023), currently Android or iOS device users are at risk of losing money because of malicious applications.
The reason is based on reports from Laptop Magthere are at least 203 malicious applications on Android and iOS that steal data and money from their mobile users.
These malicious apps were first spotted by Thailand’s Ministry of Economy and Digital Society (DES) and the UK’s National Cyber Security Center (NCSC).
DES immediately informed the public of the findings of the malicious applications on Android and iOS via its official Facebook page.
Their social media posts reveal that there are three main dangers of these apps. First, malicious applications can steal users’ personal information.
In addition, these malicious applications can also drain the user’s bank account. Lastly, those malicious apps can also take over smartphones infected to commit identity theft.
Neither DES nor NCSC disclosed in detail what type of malware was being spread through these malicious applications. However, it is stated that the applications found are so dangerous.
The two organizations have also worked closely with Google and Apple to ensure that both companies are willing to remove malicious apps from Android and iOS app stores.
