Immerse Dortmund, Barcelona Rises to Second Place in the Champions League

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Barcelona rose to second place in the Champions League standings after beating last year’s finalists Borussia Dortmund 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany, Thursday (12/12/2024).

Barcelona is now in second place in the Champions League standings behind Liverpool with 15 points, the result of five consecutive wins. Liverpool dominates the top of the standings with perfect points, 18. This English club has never lost in six matches.

With a 3-2 win thanks to three goals scored by Raphinha and Ferran Torres (two goals), Barcelona ensured they qualified for the next round.

The top eight teams qualify directly for the round of 16 and the teams in positions 9-24 will continue playoffs two legs.

Ferran Torres came off the bench to inspire Barcelona to a fifth win in six games and knock Dortmund, last season’s runners-up, out of the last eight.

Torres came on in the 71st minute to replace Robert Lewandowski, who played calmly against his former club. Four minutes later, Torres scored using a rebound from Dani Olmo’s shot.

Serhou Guirassy’s second goal in the 78th minute of the match equalized 2-2, but Torres scored again in the 85th minute after receiving Lamine Yamal’s pass on a counter-attack.

Raphinha put Barcelona ahead in the 52nd minute before Guirassy equalized from the penalty spot eight minutes later.

Both players, Raphinha and Guirassy are in second place on the goalscoring list with six goals, behind Lewandowski who scored seven goals in the Champions League.
