Indonesia Defends 2024 International Parabadminton Champion Title

Solo, Todaysgist.com – Indonesia successfully defended its overall champion title after winning 10 gold medals from 20 categories at the 2024 International Parabadminton event. The victory in the final match held at the Edutorium of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, Solo, Central Java, Sunday (22/9/2024) made the Indonesian team the overall champion for three consecutive years.

The General Chairperson of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Senny Marbun, congratulated Indonesia on its achievement in becoming the overall champion.

“I would like to express my gratitude for the event that took place. event this extraordinary tournament. Hopefully this tournament can continue every year so that Indonesian athletes can continue to achieve achievements. I am also sure that athletes from all over the world will be happy and proud to participate. Congratulations to all athletes who have become champions and continue to train hard to achieve much success in the future,” said Senny in a press release, Sunday (22/9/2024).

Likewise, Deputy Manager of Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation, Yuni Kartika, appreciated the struggle squad Garuda who again managed to win the overall champion title. The Indonesian badminton legend who won the 1994 Uber Cup said that the victory of Indonesian athletes was a breath of fresh air for the rotation of the badminton ecosystem in Indonesia.

“As we have noticed, the Indonesian team is not fielding full strength because there are still several athletes who are… recovery after the match at the Paris Paralympics yesterday so that there were several new players who were deployed in this tournament. It turned out that the athletes managed to meet the target by becoming the overall champion again,” he said.

According to him, this shows that the wheels of the ecosystem and regeneration are running well so that in the future we hope that Indonesia can be even more powerful through this sport on the world stage.

Indonesia’s victory was opened in the mixed doubles SL 3-SU 5, Hikmat Ramdani/Leani Ratri Oktila who in the final round met another Indonesian pair, Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah. Hikmat Ramdani/Leani Ratri Oktila who were the top seeds won 21-12 over 21-10 over Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah.

“The final match went smoothly, as expected, we were able to win well. This is our second success in becoming champions in Indonesia Parabadminton from the mixed doubles SL 3–SU 5. Previously we also won a gold medal at Indonesia Parabadminton 2023. We are happy to be able to contribute to the glory of the Red and White Team on the international stage,” said Ratri.

The pair who won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics also hope that their success can be an inspiration and motivation for all badminton players in the country.

Subhan also won the title in the men’s singles SH 6 after defeating the Indian representative, Sivarajan Solaimalai 21-1 and 21-15. The certainty of becoming a champion is Subhan’s second success in Indonesia Parabadminton because he had previously also become a champion in 2022.
