Indonesian Cyclist Bambang Anggoro Jati Successfully Conquers the World’s Most Challenging Ultra-Cycling

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta- Amidst the excitement of the 2024 Olympics, there is an Indonesian cyclist who has made an extraordinary achievement. Ultra cyclist Bambang Anggoro Jati, officially recorded himself as the first Indonesian to successfully cross the finish line of The Transcontinental Race No. 10 in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday (5/8/2024).

As one of the most challenging ultra-cycling events in the world, each participant in this annual event is challenged to cycle at least 4000 km and conquer climbs with elevations of more than 50,000 meters above sea level without help from anyone, including other participants.

In this year’s edition, participants started in Roubaix, France and finished in Istanbul, Turkey. Each participant was free to plan their own route, but were required to visit 4 designated checkpoints in Slovenia, Bosnia, Kosovo and Turkey.

In his first participation, the man nicknamed Bembenx managed to finish the race in 14 days 15 hours 10 minutes, and placed 77th. This event was attended by a total of 326 participants. But only 137 managed to reach the finish line.

In his upload on social media, Bambang was grateful to be able to complete his adventure of more than 2 weeks across the European continent, even though there were many challenges and obstacles that he had to face along the way.

“On the way I fell off my bike twice because I was sleepy and the road was bumpy. I had a flat tire twice, the chain broke because I panicked when chased by a dog, and I was sick and vomiting because I was late and ate the wrong food, so my body was weak and I needed a long rest in southern Bosnia before parcours 3,” explained Bambang.
