Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team Defeated by Thailand, but Megawati Impresses

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The Indonesian women’s national volleyball team was defeated by Thailand 0-3 (15-25, 22-25, and 23-25) in the second match of the SEA V League at Chachai Hall, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, Saturday (10/8/2024). Despite the defeat, Indonesian player Megawati Hangestri performed impressively in front of thousands of spectators.

Last week, in the SEA V League Vietnam series, Indonesia also lost 0-3 to Thailand, but at that time was unable to put up significant resistance.

“The girls’ game improved. In the first set, they were still afraid, afraid to face the Thai players, who are world-class players. However, I kept encouraging them, not to be afraid. Just play freely,” said the coach of the Indonesian women’s volleyball team, Chamnan Dokmai.

Chamnan assessed that his team’s performance is getting better day by day as they often train together. He hopes that in the SEA V League match against the Philippines, Sunday (11/8/2024), Indonesia can win.

Megawati scored 22 points. She was the star of the match, although she was unable to lead her team to victory. Thailand’s M Chatchu-on, the highest scorer for his country, was only able to score 18 points.

“I feel my performance continues to improve. The team’s play was also good earlier. Tomorrow we must win against the Philippines,” said Megawati.

Against Thailand in the second match of the SEA V League, the Indonesian players played badly in the first set. However, in the next two sets, they performed charmingly. In fact, in the third set, the Red and White team was always able to lead the score.

Indonesia was even ahead 23-21 in this set. Unfortunately, Thailand was so strong in defense and counterattack. Indonesia was locked in that point.
