Indonesian Women’s National Volleyball Team Returns to Key Position

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The Indonesian women’s national volleyball team failed to beat the Philippines in the third match of the SEA V League at Chachai Hall, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, Sunday (11/8/2024). Indonesia is back at the bottom.

Wilda Siti Nurfadhilah Sugandi et al surrendered in a tight fight in the final match of the SEA V League Thailand. Indonesia lost 2-3 (25-20, 20-25, 25-16, 20-25, 10-15).

With this defeat, the Indonesian women’s volleyball team has never won during the 2024 SEA V League. Last week, in Vietnam, Indonesia also lost three matches.

In the SEA V League Thailand, in the first two matches, against Vietnam and Thailand, Indonesia also suffered defeat.

Indonesian national volleyball team coach Chamnan Dokmai assessed that the performance of Indonesian players had actually improved compared to when they played in the SEA V League in Vietnam last week.

“However, I see a lack of confidence in the players. There is a feeling of fear, even though they can actually. Indonesian players should participate in international competitions more often so they can be confident. Competitions at home and abroad are very different, from the atmosphere of the audience or the match,” said the Thai coach.

Chamnan assessed his team as not good enough in receive so that Tisya Amalia’s toser finds it difficult to vary her attacks. With less variation, the attacks are easily read by the opponent.

Indonesian Libero, Yulis Indahyani considered her team less resilient compared to the Philippine players. “We lost on that side. We were also unlucky because we had to lose in five sets,” she said.

Another Indonesian player, Maradanti Namira Tegariana who was given the trust to come down from the first set to replace Myrasuci performed quite well. The player who just graduated from high school was able to block and score points several times.

“It feels good to play in full. This is a valuable experience for me. Unfortunately, we lost. Hopefully we can perform well in other competitions later,” said the player from Sleman, DIY.

Indonesia’s hopes of picking up its first win in the SEA V League were quite open when it was already leading 2-1 over the Philippines. However, it turned out that the Philippines was able to equalize the score 2-2 in the fourth set.

In the decider, Indonesia continued to lag behind in collecting points. When it fell behind, Chamnan brought in a young player, Junadia Santi, to replace Arsela Nuari. The 17-year-old player performed charmingly with her smashes. Unfortunately, the player from Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra, was weak in receiveso that the opponent’s service was interrupted.

“His smash is good, but his receiving is not good. He has to improve on that. He is still young, and I am sure he can do it,” Chamnan said.
