Indra Sjafri is optimistic that the Young Garuda will win

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The coach of the Indonesian U-20 National Team, Indra Sjafri, is optimistic that his team can beat the Maldives in the first match of the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup qualification at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, Wednesday (25/9/2024).

After the Maldives, Indonesia will face Timor Leste on September 27 and Yemen on September 29.

“Our preparation is getting more mature and ready to take part in the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup qualification which starts by facing the Maldives. Our hope is to qualify for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup in China,” said Indra Sjafri as quoted from the official PSSI website.

Indra also said that his team is becoming more solid after participating in several competitions and undergoing a two-week training camp in Bali and several days of training in Jakarta.

“All players are ready to give their best performance in tomorrow’s match. We have had a meeting with the players, and we will focus on facing each match one by one, starting from the match against Maldives, then Timor Leste, and finally Yemen. We consider all teams to have good quality, especially because this is the Asian Cup Qualification,” explained Indra Sjafri.

Meanwhile, Maldives Coach Ahmed Shakir explained that his team had started preparations since early July and had participated in several tournaments as preparation.

“Some of our players are still students, so they have to balance school and training. As a result, I had to replace some players. This is a big challenge for me, but I am still satisfied with our team’s preparation,” said Ahmed Shakir.
