After almost two weeks of silence, the influencer Haliey Welch finally spoke out about the controversy with the HAWK memecoin. This token appeared in early December and plummeted by almost 95% after suspicions of a scam rug pull.

The token is inspired by the artistic name “Hawk Tuah”, which made many people accuse Welch of carrying out the scam. The influencer disappeared for almost two weeks and this disappearance served to fuel suspicions. But this Friday (20), Welch published on X stating that he was not responsible for the creation of memecoin.

Welch decided to speak out after HAWK holders open a case against his team on Thursday (19). Therefore, the influencer stated that she will cooperate with the legal team that represents those affected and assists in resolving the case.

The HAWK holders filed the lawsuit at Burnwick Law, a New York law firm specializing in consumer fraud. The firm takes care of more than 30 cases involving cryptocurrency scamsincluding Hawk Tuah’s, and listed them all on his page.

The influencer also said that waiting to discover the truth and hold those responsible for the scam. As Todaysgist reported, HAWK had a huge appreciation as soon as it was launched on December 4th, but lost 95% of its value almost immediately.

Several investors who purchased the token lost more than US$150,000 and soon claimed that the influencer applied a rug pull move. In other words, a blow in which the creator of a cryptocurrency makes mass salesdropping the value of the token and leaving other buyers at a loss.

Together, these investors filed a lawsuit that alleges that Hawk Tuah’s team failed to properly register memecoin legal. The lawsuit also does not attribute the creation of HAWK to Welch, but rather to sellers and promoters based in the Cayman Islands.

Defendants in the complaint include Tuah The Moon Foundation, along with business partner overHere and its founder Clinton So. Representing the HAWK team is Alexander Larson Shultz, known as “Doc Hollywood”. Shultz reportedly has ties to Canadian comedian Howie Mandel.
