Injured, Ginting Immediately Eliminated from Japan Open 2024
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Indonesian men’s singles Anthony Sinisuka Ginting immediately stopped at the 2024 Japan Open after being injured and unable to continue the match against host badminton player Yushi Tanaka at the Yokohama Arena, Yokohama, Japan, Tuesday (20/8/2024).
Playing on court 1, Ginting only played for 27 minutes. In the first game he lost 12-21. The world’s ninth-ranked player could not continue the match in the second game when he fell behind 4-5.
Thus Ginting failed to secure a ticket to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Tanaka will meet the winner of the match between Chi Yu Jen from Taiwan and Jeon Hyeok Jin from South Korea.
Ginting just participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics and was stopped in the group stage. He was in Group H with host badminton player Toma Popov Junior and Howard Shu from the United States. Ginting failed to advance to the next round after being in second place because he lost when he met Toma Popov Junior 19-21, 21-17, and 15-21.
Meanwhile, in another match at the 2024 Japan Open, the men’s doubles Fajar Alfian/Muhammmad Rian Ardianto successfully won a ticket to the last 16 after defeating Chinese representatives Xie Hao Nan/Zeng Wei Han 22-20, 13-21, and 21-14.
They qualified after struggling for 60 minutes on court 2. In the last 32, Fajar/Rian will meet the winner between German pair Bjarne Geiss/Jan Colin Voelker and Choong Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal from Malaysia.
