Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting Have Chance to Meet in Final

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Two Indonesian men’s singles players Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting have the opportunity to meet in the final of the 2024 Hong Kong Open.

Both reached the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open 2024 after defeating their opponents in the quarterfinals. However, to reach the final of the Hong Kong Open 2024, of course, is not easy.

Competing at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Friday (13/9/2024), Jonatan Christie defeated Japanese men’s singles player Kodai Naraoka with a score of 21-16, 12-21, and 21-15 in the quarter-finals.

“It wasn’t an easy match, it wasn’t an easy tournament overall. But thank God I was able to make it back to the semifinals. It was my first time after the Olympics with less favorable conditions,” Jonatan said.

Jonatan Christie, who is the third seed at the 2024 Hong Kong Open, will face China’s Lei Lan Xi in the semifinals. Lei previously defeated Hong Kong‘s Lee Cheuk Yiu 16-21, 21-15, 21-14.

Anthony Ginting advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Hong Kong Open after defeating home player Jason Gunawan 21-17, 14-21, and 21-18.

Anthony will next meet Viktor Axelsen in the semifinals. Axelsen previously defeated Taiwanese player Chou Tien Chen 21-15, 21-14.

“Tomorrow I will meet Axelsen, there will definitely be another discussion and evaluation with the coach. However, now I want to focus recovery before,” said Anthony.
