Eleanor Terrett, a reporter for the American TV network Fox News, published a warning about a fake BlackRock token. According to the journalist, Scammers used your name to promote the article and the fake token on the internet.

Through his X account, Terrett explained the origin of the scam and asked his followers to be alert. According to the journalist, both the token and the news promoting it are fake. Terrett clarified that he does not promote tokens and that BlackRock has not launched any such product.

Last weekend, an alleged “BlackRock Token (BRT)” which would be issued by the largest management company in the world. To give credibility to the scam, criminals used fake graphics attributed to Fox News that showed the price of BRT.

However, Terrett soon raised the alarm after a fake article mentioning his name also surfaced. Through X, the journalist clarified that it was all a hoax.

Understand the fraud

Along with the message, the journalist published a screenshot that reveals details of the article. THE publication talks about the supposed benefits of the fake token and also explains how to acquire it.

The article describes this fictional token as an “innovative” initiative to integrate blockchain technology into traditional finance. There is a fake website “BlackRockToken(.)net” that supposedly provides detailed project information. But it serves as a decoy to steal cryptocurrencies from anyone who accesses it.

The post included promotional claims highlighting “BlackRock’s advantage,” describing the token as proof of the manager’s leadership in financial innovation. He claimed that the initiative leverages the company’s resources, experience and commitment to deliver exceptional value to investors.

The fraudulent news article attempted to appear legitimate by presenting an artificial intelligence-generated image similar to Fox News graphics. Finally, he gives false writing credits to Eleanor Terrett and FOX Business, which makes the journalist take a stand.

This is not the first time that BlackRock has found itself in the middle of an attempted coup. Last year, on November 13, a false registration appeared on the Delaware Division of Corporations website claiming that the manager reportedly filed for an XRP ETF.

However, Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas confirmed with the firm that the document was fraudulent.
