June square dances and a show with Marcelo Batista open São João de Massapê do Piauí; see the photos – Cities on the Net

The 26th edition of São João de Massapê do Piauí was officially opened on the night of this Sunday, June 16th, an event that values ​​northeastern culture, pays homage to São João Batista, patron saint of the city, and provides entertainment and leisure for the local population and visitors.

The event is promoted by the City of Massapê do Piauí, through the Municipal Department of Culture, with the support of state deputy Georgiano Neto.

On the first day, the June festival featured several cultural presentations. The first was done by the little ones from the Tia Biluca Municipal Creche, preserving the tradition of June square dances for new generations. The June event “Os Pimpolhos da Creche Tia Biluca” brought the theme “Pretty Girl with a Ribbon Bow” to the event and enchanted the audience present.

Then, it was the turn of the children participating in the Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds Service, developed by the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, who presented the theme “Luiz Gonzaga, laundresses and their Northeastern origins”.

Also noteworthy is the color, joy and choreography show presented by the June gangs “Quente e Arrochado”, from the Bom Nome community; “Caipiras do Manelão”, from the João Manoel da Costa Municipal School; “Paixão Nordestina”, from the Adriano Antônio Rodrigues Municipal School, in the Gangorrinha community; and “Luar do Sertão”, by CETI Rafael Manoel da Costa.

At the end of the presentations, Mayor Rivaldo Carvalho, flanked by First Lady Lucileide Carvalho and other authorities, awarded the juninas, handing out participation trophies and a financial incentive worth 1 thousand reais as a form of cultural support for each group.

The first day of the XXVI São João de Massapê do Piauí ended with a forró show with singer Marcelo Batista.

On the Cidades na Net portal, Mayor Rivaldo Carvalho spoke of the joy of promoting another June festival and keeping the municipality's cultural traditions alive.

“Today we are starting another São João de Massapê do Piauí. It's been 26 years of tradition and joy, of valuing our culture, of paying homage to the city's patron saint, Saint John the Baptist. June is a special month for our municipality, as faith and culture gain a prominent position,” he said.

The manager congratulated all the groups that performed the cultural presentations. “It was all very beautiful. We are happy and fulfilled to see our children, teenagers and young people participating with so much joy and enthusiasm. We are keeping our June gang culture alive,” he pointed out.

In addition to Mayor Rivaldo and First Lady Lucileide, former mayor Chico Carvalho and his wife Verônica Cavalcanti were also present and attended the event; the municipal secretaries Ludmila Costa (of Culture), Olívia Carvalho (of Education), Francivaldo Reis (of Management), Larissa Costa (of Social Assistance), Roberto Junior (of Sports), Nivaldo Rodrigues (of Works), Robervan Silva (of Controllership), Júnior Esmerio (from the Environment), Jhennyfer Rodrigues (from the Military Service); councilors Antônio Augusto (Tontonho), Rafael Veloso and Remédios Carvalho; political and community leaders such as civil engineer Zé Carlos, Roberto Carvalho, Maria Lúcia, Davi Felipe, Reinaldo Carvalho, Daniel Xavier and Eliene Silva, among others.
