Just a draw, Mikel Arteta says Arsenal should win over Chelsea

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta stated that his team should have won over Chelsea after the match in Week 11 of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge Stadium, London, ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday (11/11/2024) early morning WIB.

Quoted from the club’s official website, Arteta revealed that the results of this series were quite disappointing, especially considering the performance shown by his players on the field.

“I feel we deserved more than this. I’m also very proud of the team, the way they played here against strong opponents in this stadium. Chelsea have beaten a lot of opponents here, and obviously that wasn’t the case tonight,” said Arteta .

In that match, Arsenal took the lead thanks to a goal from Gabriel Martinelli, but Chelsea managed to equalize through Pedro Neto’s goal.

Arteta admitted he was disappointed to see how his team conceded in this match. According to the Spanish coach, Arsenal players should have anticipated this situation better.

The 42 year old coach also added that his team was unlucky in this match, especially considering that they had several golden opportunities which unfortunately were not converted into goals.

“After scoring the first goal, it was very disappointing to see the way we conceded. It was far from our defensive standards. When you give space and time to players of their quality, you will definitely be punished. So this is not a matter of bad luck,” explained Arteta.

However, Arsenal praised their team for showing great ambition, full of determination and putting Chelsea under pressure. “We played aggressively and created three big opportunities. Unfortunately, we couldn’t score the winning goal, even though I think this team deserved it,” concluded Arteta.

Despite failing to win, Arsenal is now in fourth place in the Premier League standings with a collection of 19 points from 11 matches.

Chelsea will continue their action in the Premier League competition by traveling to Leicester City headquarters on Saturday (23/11/2024). Meanwhile, Arsenal will face Nottingham Forest on the same day.
