Keeping the Golden Tradition, Perbasi Partners with Basket ID to Strengthen the Indonesian Basketball Ecosystem

– The sport of basketball successfully maintains a golden tradition in the SEA Games. After last year in Hanoi the Men’s National Team brought home a gold medal, this year at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games, it was the Women’s National Team’s turn to make history after successfully bringing home a gold medal from 5×5.

The gold medal for the 5×5 women’s national team was obtained after beating all opponents at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Elephant Hall 2. Starting from defeating Vietnam 67-62, beating Thailand 69-70, conquering Malaysia 85-57. Then they destroyed the Philippines 68-89, beat Cambodia 100-54, and finally defeated Singapore 39-86.

Ketum PP Perbasi Danny Kosasih said that this year Indonesia won a gold medal from the Women’s National Team. Last year, he also received a gold medal from the Men’s National Team.

“We are optimistic that winning a gold medal will become a tradition in the coming years. We also appreciate the achievements of the 3×3 women’s national team which won bronze and the hard work of the men’s national team both 5×5 and 3×3,” he said at Spark Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (19/5 /2023).

Secretary General of PP Perbasi, Nirmala Dewi, added that this was an extraordinary achievement. This golden ink has motivated his party to do even better in the future.

“Preparing a stronger national team and a solid coaching system not only in the 5×5 and 3×3 branches. Therefore, as a first step for future improvements, on this occasion PP Perbasi also signed an MoU with Basket ID to develop a league and basketball database. 3×3,” he said.

The person in charge of the Women’s National Team Christopher Tanuwidjaja is very pleased with this history. The gold medal won by the Women’s National Team was the first time since the SEA Games were held in 1959 in Thailand.

“We have been waiting for gold for women’s basketball for 64 years since the first SEA Games in 1959 in Thailand. I was amazed by the struggles of my friends on the field. I just prepared them, their hard work, what they did during practice since August last year until now. this doesn’t stop. It all pays off,” said Christopher Tanuwidjaja.

A player from the Women’s Basketball National Team, Agustina Gretong, admitted that she was very grateful to be able to get a gold medal. It’s the long wait for women’s basketball.

“I’m happy, grateful to get gold this year. To get here, you have to be willing to work hard, never give up and don’t hesitate to dream,” said Agustin.
