Kemenpora Denies There Are Sports That Don’t Get Government Assistance

– Deputy IV for Sports Achievement Improvement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), Surono denied that any sports that appeared at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia did not receive assistance from the government.

“We will provide Pelatnas (national training center) funding for all sports that appeared at the SEA Games yesterday 2023. Meanwhile, their departure to Cambodia is at NOC Indonesia,” he said after the MoU between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Central Board of the All-Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) at the Kemenpora Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (24/5/2023).

The statement was related to a sports branch that claimed to go to Cambodia but did not receive government support.

“It would be wrong if there were sports that blamed us for not providing Pelatnas financial support. If you are applying for NOC regarding departure and costs while in Cambodia, please ask NOC Indonesia. It is not our responsibility anymore,” he explained.

He also said that in the near future his party would also collect sports branches that have received Pelatnas funding to make an accountability report on the funds they have obtained.

“They are required to report about 70% of the aid funds, after that the remaining 30% will be disbursed. Everything must be done with precision and accountably. Later, we will also evaluate it, “said Surono.

Previously, the captain of the Indonesian Women’s Basketball National Team, Henny Sutjiono, said that for nine months during the training camp (TC) in Surabaya, there had been no financial assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).
