Facing France, Spain started the match badly. They conceded in the eighth minute through a header from striker Randall Kolo Muani. Fortunately, Yamal was able to help Spain equalize the score in the 21st minute.
The Barcelona player scored a beautiful goal with a long-range left-footed shot. Four minutes later, Spain turned the score around through Dani Olmo's shot. The 2-1 lead was maintained until the end of the match.
Yamal's goal against France made him enter the world football history books. Yamal beat Pele's record. Yamal officially became the youngest player in history to score a goal in a major tournament like the World Cup or Euro.
Yamal was just 16 years and 362 days old when he scored against Spain. Yamal surpassed Pele's record of scoring at the World Cup when he was 17 years and 239 days old.
Yamal also holds the record for Spain's youngest goal in a major tournament. Gavi previously held the record when he scored at the age of 18 years and 110 days.
