Liverpool Retirement, Jurgen Klopp Enjoys Paris 2024 Paralympics

Paris, Todaysgist.com – Former Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp was present at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle, France, to enjoy the 2024 Paris Paralympics. Klopp gave encouragement to New Zealand parabadminton player Wojtek Czyz who appeared on the field, Thursday (29/8/2024).

“How did it feel to watch it? Great! When I was here, I was standing next to Elena (Wojtek Czyz’s wife) and we both had tears in our eyes,” said Klopp as quoted from the page olympics.com.

“I know sport is always about results and winning, but there is more to the story behind it, and being here is always so touching that I can’t think about anything else.

Czyz is a former professional footballer who became a Paralympic athlete after suffering a knee injury to his left leg which resulted in the amputation of the lower part of his left leg. After retiring early from football in 2001, Czyz rose to become a Paralympic athlete and won four Paralympic gold medals in athletics.

At the 2024 Paris Paralympics, Czyz will represent New Zealand in parabadminton.

“It’s the most inspiring story I’ve ever heard in my life. I think we are all ready to see a lot more than we showed,” Klopp said.

Klopp is known to have resigned from Liverpool at the end of last season. During his time at Liverpool, Klopp successfully contributed prestigious titles to the Merseyside club, including the 2019/2020 Premier League title (Liverpool’s first Premier League title since 1990).

Klopp also successfully led Liverpool to win the 2018/2019 Champions League, 2019 UEFA Super Cup, 2019 Club World Cup. Other titles contributed by Klopp are the 2021/2022 FA Cup, 2021/2022 and 2023/2024 League Cups, and the 2022 Community Shield.

After leaving Liverpool, Klopp said in early August that he was enjoying peace and quiet. However, he denied retiring from football, and said he was ready to return to coaching in the future.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is now being handled by Dutch coach Arne Slot. On Sunday (1/9/2024), Liverpool will undergo the third match of the 2024/2025 Premier League by facing their arch-rivals, Manchester United at Old Trafford.
