Madrid, Todaysgist.com – Real Madrid will try to continue their winning streak when they host Espanyol in the sixth week of the Spanish League at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday (22/9/2024) early morning WIB.

Two straight wins in La Liga and a win in the opening stages of the Champions League, show The Whites is heading towards its best performance.

Currently Madrid (11 points) is still in third place in the Spanish League standings behind leaders Barcelona (15) and Atletico Madrid (11).

Meanwhile, Espanyol, who have won their last two games, are in 12th place with seven points.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side drew their opening league game against Mallorca before beating Real Valladolid 3-0. However, they were then held to a draw by Las Palmas, with star man Kylian Mbappe failing to score in his opening three league games.

However, Real Madrid bounced back to beat Real Betis and Real Sociedad 2-0 respectively. Lastly in midweek they opened the 2024/2025 Champions League with a 3-1 win over Stuttgart.

Madrid have three games in La Liga against Espanyol, Alaves and city rivals Atletico Madrid, who beat them last season. Then The Whites fly to Lille for their second leg of the Champions League group stage in early October.

Real Madrid have won their last three league games against Espanyol. In the last meeting at the Bernabeu in the 2022/2023 season, Madrid won 3-1.

Meanwhile, Espanyol managed to return to La Liga through the knockout stages. playoff Segunda Division 2023/2024. They will try desperately to maintain their place in the top league of Spanish football.

Eder Militao also returns after coming off the bench against Stuttgart, but there are unlikely to be any changes to Madrid’s attack, with Rodrygo returning alongside Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Endrick scored his second goal against Stuttgart, becoming Real Madrid’s youngest ever Champions League goalscorer. However, the 18-year-old is expected to return to the bench.

From Espanyol, coach Gonzalez is likely to field the same players that beat Alaves. Including three-goal scorer in that match Javi Puado.

On-loan Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Veliz has scored one goal in five league appearances this season and the 21-year-old is ready to continue playing up front at the Bernabeu.
