Making history, the Indonesian women’s national team wins the 2024 AFF Cup

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian women’s national team (Timnas) successfully won the 2024 AFF Cup after beating Cambodia 3-1 in the final match which was held at the New Laos National Stadium, Vientiane, Thursday (5/12/2024). Two of the three goals were scored by Reva Octaviani in the 19th and 57th minutes. Another goal was scored by Sydney Hopper in the 35th minute.

Meanwhile, Cambodia scored a goal from Hok Saody in the 32nd minute. This was the first title for the Indonesian women’s national team in the AFF Cup.

Both teams started the match carefully so that there were not many dangerous opportunities. Indonesia was able to open the scoring in the 19th minute thanks to Reva Octaviani’s kick following Katarina Stalin’s pass.

Left behind, Cambodia was forced to play more openly and began to put pressure on the Indonesian defense. Their efforts paid off with the equalizing goal scored by Hok Saudy’s header in the 32nd minute following Heng Sovanmony’s cross.

However, the score only lasted three minutes after Indonesia regained the lead. Indonesia’s second goal was scored by Sydney Hopper who converted Sheva Imut’s cross. Score 2-1 for Indonesia’s advantage lasted until halftime.

Both teams took turns attacking each other in the second half. Cambodia attacked several times but still had difficulty penetrating Indonesia’s solid defense.

Indonesia increased their lead in the 57th minute through Sheva’s second goal. This was Sheva’s third goal in this tournament. Winning 3-1, the Indonesian women’s national team did not relax their attacks. Estella Loupatti almost doubled the lead after only having to deal with the Cambodian goalkeeper in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, she failed to maximize the opportunity because her shooting space was blocked by the goalkeeper.

The 3-1 score lasted until the match ended and also ensured the victory of the Indonesian women’s national team to win the 2024 AFF Cup.
