Man City vs Chelsea results: Julian Alvarez Ensures The Citizens Win
– Julian Alvarez’s goal led Manchester City to a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League continuation at the Etihad, Sunday (21/5/2023) evening.
This victory further strengthened Man City’s strength even though the second-tier team was still able to beat Chelsea. This result clearly complements the joy of Man City who have been crowned Premier League champions 2022/2023.
Man City appeared dominant throughout the first 45 minutes with 63% possession. The hosts put pressure on Chelsea in the first 10 minutes although they still couldn’t create chances.
However, in the 12th minute Man City opened the scoring after Cole Palmer’s assist was greeted by Julian Alvarez with a right-footed shot from the center of the 16th box. The ball flowed swiftly into the Chelsea goal. Score 1-0 to Man City.
The Blues responded with Raheem Sterling’s attempted shot with his left foot from the center of the 16th box which goalkeeper Kepa was still able to save.
Chelsea almost leveled the score when Conor Gallagher’s header hit the post. The 1-0 score for Man City’s advantage lasted until halftime.
