Menpora Hopes the Women’s Baseball Team Make Achievements at the 2023 Asian Cup

The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo released the Women’s Baseball National Team (Timnas) to take part in the 2023 Women’s Baseball Asian Cup which will take place in Hong Kong from May 21-June 1.

Menpora Dito hopes that the Indonesian women’s baseball team can make achievements.

“Although not as well known as football or basketball, if baseball is able to go global, we, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, will continue to support it,” said Menpora Dito to reporters at the Kemenpora Office, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/5/2023).

“As long as you carry the Red and White, please maximize it. I will support all of you. I hope all of you will become champions. Good luck fighting for the red and white and for the motherland. Once again, good luck in Hong Kong,” he continued.

In the release ceremony, Menpora Dito was accompanied by Andika Monoarfa as General Chairperson of the Indonesian Baseball & Softball Association (PB Perbasasi) and Verry Kasyoga as coach of the women’s baseball national team.

Ahead of wading into the championship at the Asian level, the women’s baseball team has been preparing for three months. He hopes that when he competes in Hong Kong, his troops will be able to surprise them as dark horses.

“In preparation for women’s baseball, we have been preparing for 3 months. We will take the best athletes from 7 provinces. Target? If we can qualify, that will be an achievement,” said Verry Kasyoga in the same place.

“We will fight 6 countries first in the qualifiers. The strongest forces are Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and we hope that we will receive support. Because you can say we are dark horses,” he concluded.
