Microsoft Edge browser now uses more than Safari worldwide,

Microsoft’s Edge internet browser is used on 10 percent of all computers worldwide, according to data from web analyst StatCounter. This makes Edge more popular than Safari, Apple’s web browser, since this month.

Safari’s market share is 9.61 percent this month, making it smaller than Edge’s for the first time. Incidentally, both browsers lag far behind Google Chrome in terms of the number of users: 66.6 percent of people use that browser on the computer.

In recent months, Edge has gained popularity. Firefox also seemed to be on the rise. That browser was used almost as much as Edge and Safari in February, but since March Firefox has lost users, giving it a market share of 7.87 percent.

In the Netherlands, safari was already overtaken by Edge in February, according to the figures of StatCounter. In the meantime, the lead has expanded. In April, Edge’s market share in the Netherlands was 14.9 percent and Safari’s was 13.4 percent. Firefox comes next, with 8.3 percent.

With a market share of 58 percent, Google Chrome is also the most popular here. However, the browser has lost Dutch users in recent months. In September, Chrome still had a market share of 65.1 percent. How these shifts occurred is not known.
