Minister of Communication and Information Threatens to Block, Bigo Live Tightens Rules to Clean Up Online Gambling and Pornography Content

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – Bigo Live has finally spoken out about the threat of blocking from the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemkominfo).

In its efforts to remain operational in the country, the company has taken decisive steps by tightening content moderation.

Not only that, the company has also removed thousands of accounts that violate community guidelines, especially those related to online gambling and pornographic content.

“We have introduced a series of significant updates to the moderation system, removing 40,000 pieces of indecent content and 50,000 accounts since the beginning of 2024,” said a Bigo Live spokesperson in an official statement, Tuesday (27/8/2024).

The company said this is part of Bigo Live’s commitment to providing a safe and clean digital environment.

“We never tolerate sensitive or offensive content on our platform,” he said.

This Bigo Live update is part of our proactive efforts to ensure all content on Bigo Live is safe and useful, especially for the Indonesian people.

Bigo Live also added that they have strengthened their moderation system by combining AI-based content detection technology and an Indonesian-speaking moderation team.

“Our team works 24 hours a day to monitor the platform, and has removed more than one million potentially harmful content and behaviors every day in Indonesia,” said Bigo Live.
