MotoGP 2025 starts in Thailand, Chang Circuit’s legendary bend is in the spotlight

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The 2025 MotoGP season is about to begin, with the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, hosting the opening race. The notoriously challenging final corner of this circuit is once again the main concern of racers and fans.

Based on MotoGP data, the Chang Circuit has 12 corners with a track length of 4,554 meters. Racing on this circuit will cover a distance of 26 laps or the equivalent of 118.4 km.

The last corner is often the key in determining the winner, as seen in several dramatic moments, such as the 2018 Thai GP (Marc Marquez vs Andrea Dovizioso), the 2019 Thai GP (Marc Marquez vs Fabio Quartararo), and the 2024 Thai GP (Francesco Bagnaia vs Jorge Martin) .

The average speed of a driver around a corner varies, depending on the track design. In slow corners, the speed ranges from 85-100 km/hour, while in fast corners it can reach 160-180 km/hour.

2025 will be the sixth time Thailand has hosted MotoGP since its debut in 2018, where Marc Marquez emerged as the first winner. Thailand is one of eight Asian countries hosting MotoGP, along with Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Turkey, China, Qatar and India.

In the 2024 season, Ducati dominated the championship with Francesco Bagnaia winning the main race and Enea Bastianini winning the title in the sprint race. The 2024 Thai GP will be the deciding race in the race for the world title for the racer and constructor categories.

As the opening of the 2025 MotoGP series, the official launch event will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 9. Taking place at One Bangkok, this event will present the racers and their respective teams to greet the fans.
