MotoGP Racers Together with BRI Plant Trees in Mandalika to Support “Green Tourism”

Mandalika, Todaysgist.com – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk consistently implements sustainable finance as support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Most recently, BRI supported the Mandalika Moto GP area to become Green Tourism by planting a total of around 10,000 tree seedlings in the Mandalika area.

Tree planting in the Mandalika area took place on Thursday (26/9/2024) and is part of a series of events for the Mandalika MotoGP 2024. This activity involves MotoGP racers such as Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing), Johann Zarco (LCR Team), Mario Aji (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia), Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia), Manuel Gonzalez (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™️), David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Team) and Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI.

On a separate occasion, Deputy Main Director of BRI, Catur Budi Harto, revealed that the tree planting activity in the Mandalika area is a concrete form and contribution of BRI in supporting the implementation of MotoGP 2024 by prioritizing environmental sustainability.

This activity is also a form of aligning company strategy, fulfilling stakeholder expectations and initiating Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) which refers to national, regional and global standards as well as BRI’s commitment to social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) in all work units throughout remote areas of Indonesia.

“The implementation of MotoGP 2024 is a world-class event, therefore both the government, BUMN, private sector and the community must support the implementation of this activity as well as possible and pay attention to environmental aspects. “We really appreciate the Journey to Green Tourism Mandalika activity as part of the Indonesian MotoGP Event, because this activity is one part of all our efforts to create a sustainable environment,” he said.

Catur added that BRI also continues to support the government in its efforts to restore the world’s ecosystem and supports efforts to combat climate change by taking a role through programs that can actually help overcome climate change and create sustainable growth.

BRI Peduli as the umbrella for Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) has initiated the ‘BRI Menanam – Grow & Green’ program in the form of activities that support ecosystem restoration efforts both at sea and on land.

Since it was implemented in 2023, the BRI Menanam – Grow & Green program has planted 55,300 planted and maintained tree seedlings. The tree seeds planted include mangroves, sea pine, and productive plants (durian, coffee, sugar palm, pine, nutmeg, etc. as well as transplanting 2,430 coral reef fragments on several islands in Indonesia. Overall, this program has the potential to absorb carbon of 12,167.29 Tons CO2e/year).

In its implementation, BRI also collaborates with various parties such as non-profit organizations and the community over a certain period of time. This program is also an ongoing program that continues to be monitored and evaluated for its success.
