MPR Chairman: Indonesia Needs Cyber ​​Force to Strengthen Security

Todaysgist.com, Jakarta – MPR RI Chairman Bambang Soesatyo highlighted the issue of Indonesia’s cyber resilience. He expressed this in his speech at the 2024 MPR annual session.

In his speech, the man who is familiarly called Bamsoet stated that Indonesia needs to improve cyber security resilience. This is done considering that there have been a number of data hacking cases that have occurred in the country.

“Cybersecurity resilience in Indonesia also still needs improvement. This is also related to the national data hacking case which indicates the urgency of the availability of government institutions that focus on cybersecurity, including legal regulations,” he said, Friday (16/8/2024).

Bambang also highlighted Indonesia’s position based on the National Cyber ​​Security Index. It was stated that Indonesia still occupies the fifth position in Southeast Asia in terms of cyber security.

In fact, according to Bamsoet, the world has now entered the era of the Internet of Military Things/Internet of Battle Field Things. This situation makes military operations increasingly controllable from a very long distance, faster and more accurately.

“Therefore, it is time for Indonesia to immediately prepare the formation of the fourth dimension of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) by presenting the Cyber ​​Force. Its presence is to strengthen the three existing dimensions, namely the Army, Navy, and Air Force,” said the MPR Chairman.

This condition is increasingly important considering Indonesia’s geopolitical position is very vulnerable. Because, facing directly with the trident of British Commonwealth countries, namely Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia.

These countries are also members of the Five Power Defence Arrangement (FFDA) together with New Zealand and Great Britain, which are also in the geopolitical battle arena between Russia, China and America.

In his speech, the MPR Chairman also highlighted the application of information technology which is expected to be a solution to current problems. However, this development leaves other problems, such as the widening digital divide, especially in Eastern Indonesia.
