Mukiele’s goal gives the Nerazzurri their first defeat

Jakarta, Berisatu.com – A last-minute goal scored by Nordi Mukiele caused Inter to suffer their first defeat in the Champions League when they visited Bayer Leverkusen’s headquarters at the Bay Arena, Wednesday (11/12) early morning WIB.

This defeat was the first for the Nerazzurri, nicknamed Inter, in the Champions League this season. Simone Inzaghi’s team had to drop to fourth place in the standings with 13 points. Meanwhile, Leverkusen moved up to second place with the same number of points, but ahead on goal difference.

In the Leverkusen vs Inter match, the hosts immediately threatened the goal of the Italian guests when the match had only been running for three minutes. Jeremie Frimpong sent a cross which Nathan Tella continued with a volley. However, the ball only hit the crossbar.

Intense pressure from Leverkusen made it difficult for Inter to develop their game. On the other hand, Inter’s tight defense forced the hosts to try several shots from outside the penalty box.

In the 35th minute of the match, Florian Wirtz almost opened the scoring for Leverkusen with a shot at the far post. However, his attempt was thwarted by Inter goalkeeper, Yann Sommer. Until the first half of the Leverkusen vs Inter match was over, the score was still goalless.

In the second half, both teams continued to have difficulty creating opportunities until the 60th minute. Inter tried to change the situation by bringing in Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella and Kristjan Asllani to strengthen the attack line.

The decisive goal finally came in the 90th minute. A cross from the right created chaos in the Inter penalty box. Ball rebounding Martin Terrier failed to secure it, until finally Mukiele grabbed it with a hard kick that penetrated Sommer’s goal.

The hosts managed to maintain their lead until the final whistle of the Leverkusen vs Inter match and ensured a narrow 1-0 victory. This was Leverkusen’s fourth win in six matches in the Champions League.
