National Team Achievements Increase Level of Satisfaction with PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir to 94 Percent

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – A survey conducted by Indicator stated that the level of satisfaction of the Indonesian people with the performance of Erick Thohir, who has led PSSI for less than two years, reached 94%.

The survey results were announced on 10-15 October 2024, on Tuesday (5/11/22024). Football observer and Save Our Soccer (SOS) coordinator Akmal Marhali, who was also a speaker at the survey presentation, assessed that the 94% public satisfaction figure was due to the achievements of the Indonesian National Team and the breakthroughs made by Erick Thohir in Indonesian football.

“About 94% are satisfied with the performance of the PSSI chairman, Erick Thohir. It is not yet 2 years old, but there have indeed been breakthroughs in the transformation of national football, and then it has produced results along with the achievements achieved by the national team,” said Akmal.

These achievements include winning the SEA Games, qualifying for the knock-out round of the senior Asian Cup for the first time, qualifying for the semifinals of the U-23 Asian Cup as a debutant, and almost qualifying for the Olympics. This year Indonesia qualified three national teams, namely U-17, U-20 and senior to the Asian Cup.

In fact, this success puts Indonesia on par with eight large countries in Asia, such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan.

“We are the only ASEAN country that has qualified three national teams for the Asian Cup. The only Southeast Asian country that has qualified for the third round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. This shows that public attention to football is very high, with this trend the public is satisfied with the leadership “Erick Thohir in the national team field is very extraordinary, and also the women’s national team is starting to be boosted,” he explained.

Akmal added that the use of VAR in the Indonesian League makes the referee’s performance even better. There are still some technical errors in the field, but according to him they can be tolerated.

According to Akmal, these indicators make the public very satisfied with Erick Thohir’s leadership. “Because logically, football is assessed in three ways, the first is the national team, the second is the competition, and then the third is the coaching,” he said.

Something that may still be homework (PR) for PSSI, according to Akmal, is its coaching. Age group competitions have not run perfectly. Then how can League 2, League 3, Nusantara League and age groups run well.
