New Android 15 Feature, Delete Registered Faces and Fingerprints when They Can't Be Used

Meanwhile, Google announced that it would release an anti-theft feature aimed at Android cellphones. This feature is known to utilize artificial intelligence to identify theft and lock the device layer automatically.

Quoting information from Reuters, Tuesday (18/6/2024), Google will trial this feature in Brazil. This country was chosen because Brazil is said to be experiencing an increase in cases of cellphone theft.

This feature is here to protect the data of Android cellphone users who lose their device. So, thieves or irresponsible parties who take the device cannot access personal information or other data.

During this trial period, Google used three types of methods to prevent data theft from victims of Android cell phone theft.

One of them is that Google uses AI to detect movement patterns that commonly occur during theft, then the device will immediately lock the screen.

Another method that is also being tested is that Android device users can lock the device screen remotely by entering a phone number, as well as solving security challenges using another device.

Finally, the method used is to lock the device screen if it is not connected to the internet for a long time.

This anti-theft feature is scheduled to be available for Android 10 or higher cellphone users starting July. After Brazil, Google is said to plan to gradually release this feature to users in other countries throughout 2024.
