No Warm Welcome for Barcelona Ahead of Man City Clash

Orlando, Todaysgist.com – Barcelona’s arrival in the pre-season match in America did not receive a warm welcome. The arrival of the Catalan club was only greeted by dozens of people when they arrived in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday (28/7/2024).

Only 50 Barca fans greeted the players as they arrived at the hotel. The situation is very different from a few years ago, when Barca was still strengthened by Lionel Messi, who was welcomed by thousands of football fans in the US.

“Almost no one knew that Barca would come to Orlando,” wrote Spanish newspaper AS, on Monday (29/7/2024).

For the pre-season tour to the US, Barcelona brought 31 players. As many as 15 players are members of the junior team. The names of the Spanish national team players who just won Euro 2024, such as Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres have not joined. While Gavi and Pedri have not recovered from injuries, and Fermin Lopez, and Pau Cubarsi are participating in the Olympics.

Barcelona began their first pre-season match on July 25, with a friendly against fourth division side Olot and won 1–0.

On July 31, 2024, the club coached by German coach Hansi Flick will meet Premier League champions Man City.

Then Barca will undergo an El Clasico duel against arch-rivals Real Madrid on August 3, 2024. Finally, Barca will face AC Milan on August 6, 2024.

After that, Barca will return to Spain to compete in the Joan Gamper Friendly Cup against Monaco on August 12. They will start the 2024/2025 La Liga campaign with a trip to the Mestalla Stadium against Valencia on August 17, 2024.

This summer, Barca have only one new face, coach Flick. The Catalan club welcome back five players after their loan deals ended, namely Eric Garcia, Clement Lenglet, Pablo Torre, Julian Araujo and Ansu Fati.
