Ole Romeny is expected to defend the Indonesian national team against Australia and Bahrain
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Striker Ole Romeny is expected to be able to defend the Indonesian national team in the match against Australia and Bahrain in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian zone, third round of Group C in March 2025.
The Indonesian national team is currently in last place in Group C standings after suffering two defeats, three draws and never winning. The team coached by coach Shin Tae-yong will appear again on Tuesday (19/11/2024), but will not be able to field Ole Romeny.

Romeny started his football career at junior level with DVOL Youth, a club in the Netherlands, before joining NEC Nijmegen Youth in 2011. In 2018, he moved up to the NEC Nijmegen first team, then played for Willem II (2020), FC Emmen ( 2022), and finally joined FC Utrecht at the start of the 2023/2024 season.
In the Dutch League this season, the 24 year old player has played in 10 matches for FC Utrecht, scoring two goals in a total of 673 minutes played.
PSSI General Chair, Erick Thohir, has given a signal that he will immediately start the naturalization process for the FC Utrechtini striker.
Through an upload on his official Instagram account, @erickthohir, on Saturday (16/11/2024), Erick, who also serves as BUMN minister, shared a photo of himself sitting with Ole Romeny.
In the upload, Erick indirectly revealed that Ole Romeny had decided to defend the Indonesian national team. He also expressed his belief that squad Garuda is able to compete in the World Cup.
“Every now and then it looks different. “With five matches remaining, including against Saudi Arabia in the coming days, we need to have the same belief to make our big dreams come true,” wrote Erick.
“There is still hope for those who are willing to fight wholeheartedly. “Thank you, Ole, for continuing to believe in Indonesia’s dream of appearing in the World Cup,” he continued.
