Olympic Gold Medalist Zheng Qinwen Fights in 3 Sets in the First Round of the US Open
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen had to battle through three sets to beat Amanda Anisimova in the first round of the US Open.
American Anisimova managed to put Zheng ahead early on, but the Chinese world number seven turned things around to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Zheng Qinwen is delighted to be able to build on his winning momentum at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which made him China’s first Olympic singles champion.
“This is a match I usually lose, especially after a big success,” Zheng said, Tuesday (8/27/2024).
According to him, after great success, he will have difficulties. He feels he has to work hard again.
The 21-year-old was keen to avoid another upset, but Anisimova didn’t make it easy. “It was a really tough match today,” Zheng said.
Zheng is looking forward after winning gold at the Paris Olympics.
