Phil Foden Named PFA Player of the Year 2023/2024
Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year for 2023/24. The award was presented at an event held at the Manchester Opera House on Wednesday (21/8/2024) early morning WIB.
Foden managed to beat a number of star players such as Erling Haaland, Rodri, Cole Palmer, Martin Odegaard, and Ollie Watkins in the fight for this prestigious title.
The award recognises Foden’s incredible contribution to Manchester City’s huge success, including a fourth successive Premier League title, the UEFA Super Cup and last season’s Club World Cup.
In the 2023/2024 season, the 24-year-old English player showed brilliant performance by scoring 27 goals and 12 assists. assist in all competitions. This achievement adds to his long list of achievements, after Foden previously won the PFA Young Player of the Year twice in a row in the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 seasons.
Before Foden, the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award was won by Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker won the award after his phenomenal debut in the English Premier League, scoring 36 goals in 35 games.
Meanwhile, for the PFA Young Player of the Year category this season, the title went to Chelsea player Cole Palmer. The former Manchester City player performed impressively by scoring 22 goals in 33 matches in the 2023/2024 English Premier League, although his performance was not enough to bring Chelsea out of sixth place in the final standings.
