Players of Hamster Kombat, one of the most popular games distributed via Telegram, are threatening to sue the game’s creators. The controversy began after the poor performance of the game’s official token, HMSTR, which suffered a 42% drop since its launch. This drop has led to accusations that the project operates as a Ponzi scheme.

Players’ dissatisfaction intensified after the token’s airdrop, considered by many to be one of the worst distributions in the history of crypto assets.

According to Oleg Kalmanovich, main analyst at Neomarkets, the central problem is the dilution of the token’s value, which happened due to the large number of participants.

“The airdrop involved around 300 million players, and 130 million received the tokens. This number is gigantic, and it is impossible for everyone to receive large amounts,” Kalmanovich said in an interview with Russian media.

Is Hamster Kombat a pyramid?

Kalmanovich compared the HMSTR token distribution model to a classic pyramid scheme, in which players waste their time instead of money.

“This is the crux of the problem. Many participants were unable to obtain significant financial benefits and felt that the time invested was wasted,” said the analyst.

Players’ dissatisfaction is reflected not only in the drop in token value, but also in the structure of the game itself. Many users reported that the inclusion of an anti-cheat strategy days before the airdrop contributed to the difficulty in collecting substantial rewards.

Faced with frustration, some players began considering legal action against the developers of Hamster Kombat. According to Russian media, these players believe they have been misled by the game’s business model and are seeking to review agreements established by developers to check whether there have been breaches of obligations or misleading information.

Legal experts, however, emphasize that any process will depend on the detailed analysis of the game’s contracts and terms of use.
