Playing a draw, Manchester United and Chelsea are stuck in the standings

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Manchester United had to settle for sharing points with Chelsea after drawing 1-1 in the home match at Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester, on Monday (4/11/2024) early morning WIB. This match was intense with both teams attacking each other throughout the match.

Manchester United managed to take the lead through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty goal in the 70th minute. However, just four minutes later, Chelsea equalized through Moises Caicedo’s long-range shot which outwitted the MU goalkeeper.

This result means Manchester United is stuck in 13th place in the Premier League standings with 12 points from 10 matches, while Chelsea rose to fifth position with 18 points.

Throughout the match, Chelsea dominated ball possession up to 54%. The Blues also recorded 12 opportunities with three of them aiming straight at the goal.

At the start of the match, MU relied more on counter attacks to create opportunities. Alejandro Garnacho had a chance, but his shot was saved by Chelsea goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez. The next chance came from Rasmus Hojlund, but Sanchez again appeared alert to stop the attempt.

Another golden opportunity for MU occurred when Marcus Rashford had a chance in front of the Chelsea goal, but unfortunately his shot went over the bar.

Entering the second half, Chelsea opened the attack first through Pedro Neto’s shot which unfortunately went wide of the target. MU finally got a penalty after Hojlund was brought down by Sanchez in the penalty box. Bruno Fernandes, who was the executor, successfully completed his task, giving United a 1-0 lead.

However, Chelsea didn’t take long to respond. Four minutes later, Moises Caicedo fired a kick from outside the penalty box which the MU goalkeeper was unable to block, bringing the score back to a 1-1 draw. Towards the end of the match, MU created several opportunities through Garnacho, but the final score remained 1-1.

Next, Manchester United will travel to face Leicester City on Sunday (10/11/2024), while Chelsea will host Arsenal in their next match on the same day. Both MU and Chelsea will face the European tournament first in midweek before continuing with the Premier League.
