Playing ban sentence reduced to 18 months, Paul Pogba: Nightmare is over
Geneva, Beritasatu.com – French footballer Paul Pogba says his nightmare is over after his 4-year ban for doping was reduced to 18 months. Pogba, who is under contract with Italian giants Juventus until 2026, will be able to return to competitive matches from March 11 2025 or 4 days before his 32nd birthday.
“Finally the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can chase my dreams again,” said Pogba, quoted by AP, Saturday (5/10/2024).
Pogba reiterated that he had never intentionally violated World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations.
“When I took nutritional supplements prescribed to me by the doctor it did not affect or increase my stamina. “I played with integrity even though I have to accept this was a violation,” he continued.
Pogba thanked the judges at the Court of Arbitration for Sport who listened to his explanation and ultimately reduced his sentence.
“This is a very troublesome time in my life because everything I have fought so hard for has been postponed,” he concluded.
