PON: North Kalimantan Wins Gold, Ketum FOBI: Proof of Equal Lion Dance Achievement

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Barongsai Sports Federation (PB FOBI), Edy Kusuma, greatly appreciates the success of the Barongsai team from North Kalimantan (Kaltara) which became the first gold medal winner from all Kaltara contingents at the 21st Aceh–North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024.

Edy Kusuma also appreciated all provinces that managed to bring home medals and became the pride of their respective provinces.

“The implementation of the barongsai branch of sport which was first held at PON was very successful. Of course, this is thanks to the hard work of all parties who have helped so that it can be implemented well,” said Edy Kusuma when receiving a visit from the North Kalimantan (Kaltara) barongsai team to the PB FOBI Secretariat in Jakarta, Saturday (14/9/2024).

PB FOBI specifically thanked the government, the Chairman of KONI Pusat, Marciano Norman, thanked the hosts Aceh and North Sumatra, and the entire PON committee for their hard work so that everything could run well.

In the event, the General Chairperson of PB FOBI, ​​Edy Kusuma was accompanied by the Secretary General of PB FOBI, ​​Arifin Himawan, the Daily Chairperson of PB FOBI, ​​Hasan Karman and other central management officials.

The presence of the North Kalimantan barongsai team at the PB FOBI Secretariat in Jakarta, in addition to socializing with the PB FOBI management, also reported on their achievements at the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024, namely winning a gold medal.

At the 21st PON Aceh–North Sumatra 2024, the lion dance sport took place at the Martial Arts Arena, Deli Serdang on 4-8 September 2024. Kaltara is one of the provinces that won the gold medal in the free taolu lion dance competition.

In particular, the gold medal of the barongsai team is the first gold medal for North Kalimantan Province at the PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra. Edy Kusuma also expressed his gratitude to all athletes who competed in the PON XXI Aceh-Sumatra in 2024.

“Stay enthusiastic, make achievements in national and international events, even world events,” continued Edy Kusuma.

Edy Kusuma also hopes that the achievements and performance of the FOBI Kaltara team can be transmitted to FOBI teams throughout Indonesia.

“Kaltara’s success in winning this gold medal is proof that the achievements and performance of FOBI members are not only dominated and centered in certain areas, but are spread throughout Indonesia,” he concluded.

In the international President’s Cup championship in mid-May 2024, the FOBI team from West Sumatra and Banten won first place. This is proof that regions that are willing to work hard can definitely achieve the best achievements.

PB FOBI continues to be committed to developing Barongsai sports in Indonesia, specifically also preparing for PON XXII which will be held in NTT-NTB in 2028.
