PON XXI Has Positive Impact on Aceh and North Sumatra

Jakarta, Todaysgist.com – Acting Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut) Agus Fatoni said that the 21st National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh and North Sumatra 2024 had a positive impact on Aceh and North Sumatra.

According to Fatoni, PON XXI is not only in the spotlight in terms of sports competitions, but also in terms of infrastructure development that supports the implementation of this large-scale event.

Through thorough preparation, PON XXI became an event that was not only successful in terms of implementation, but also left a valuable legacy in the form of international standard sports facilities.

“North Sumatra and Aceh have prepared various infrastructures that meet international standards, making us ready to be quality hosts,” Fatoni told reporters, Friday (20/9/2024).

Various international standard sports facilities have been built in these two provinces to support the XXI PON event, such as the Madya Stadium which is one of the leading venues specifically designed for athletics.

This facility is equipped with the latest technology that supports various sports and is adequate for holding international competitions.

In addition, Aceh and North Sumatra also built bowling facilities with global standards. These bowling arenas are not only designed to meet the needs of domestic competitions, but also to be ready to host international bowling championships in the future.

The beach volleyball venue located on the shores of Lake Toba is also a special attraction for PON XXI, offering a beautiful natural backdrop. The North Sumatra Sport Center Main Stadium, which will be the closing venue for PON XXI, is a symbol of pride for the people of North Sumatra. The stadium is able to accommodate thousands of spectators with modern facilities, making it one of the largest sports infrastructures in Indonesia.

Fatoni assessed that infrastructure development for PON XXI should be viewed as a long-term investment for the development of sports in Indonesia. These facilities, he said, will not only be used for organizing PON, but will also be used for various national and international sports activities in the future.

“This is in line with the hope that North Sumatra and Aceh will continue to play a role in developing the quality of national athletes and becoming hosts for other international events,” said Fantoni.

Separately, the General Chairperson of KONI Pusat, Marciano Norman, revealed that the infrastructure prepared greatly supports athletes in achieving their best performance.

“This year’s PON reflects the seriousness of North Sumatra and Aceh in improving the quality of sports in Indonesia with international standard facilities,” said Marciano.
