Proud! Indonesia Wins 15 Medals at the International Wing Chun Championship in China

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The Indonesian Wing Chun National Team won 15 medals at the inaugural appearance of the 2024 International Wing Chun Championship in Foshan, Guangdong, China, 12-15 December 2024.

The Garuda squad, which was strengthened by six wing chun athletes, collected 15 medals consisting of 11 gold, three silver and one bronze in the event which was attended by 3,000 participants including 300 from abroad.

“This is a proud achievement. Moreover, six Wing Chun athletes who strengthened the Indonesian Wing Chun National Team won medals,” said Indonesian Wing Chun National Team Manager Sher Lie to reporters, Monday (16/12/2024).

The success of the Indonesian Wing Chun National Team cannot be separated from the coaching program carried out by the Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PBWI).

PBWI’s commitment to carrying out coaching programs to improve Indonesian wushu sports performance has borne fruit. After Sanda and Taolu athletes who have made international achievements, now it is the turn of Wing Chun athletes to prove it. Their potential is large enough to bring glory to the nation and state,” he explained.

PBWI Deputy Chairman I Iwan Kwok said that the Indonesian Wing Chun National Team was the first to appear events international.

“This is the first time the Indonesian Wing Chun National Team has appeared and achieved an achievement. This is a proud achievement. Thank you for the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the PBWI honorary board who have provided support for the development of the sport of wushu,” he said.
