PSS Draws Against Borneo FC at Manahan Stadium

Solo, Todaysgist.com – PSS Sleman drew 1-1 against Borneo FC in the continuation of the 2024/2025 BRI Liga 1 competition held at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java, on Thursday (12/9/2024).

PSS Sleman coach Wagner Lopes revealed that the match did not go smoothly. According to him, although his team had several opportunities, the final execution was still less than optimal.

“There were a lot of chances, we had five chances, but we didn’t manage to score,” he said.

Lopes also explained that the team had made tactical changes after the opposing goalkeeper received a red card.

“The game was difficult, we changed our strategy after their goalkeeper got a red card,” he added.

However, Lopes admitted that he was not satisfied with the draw. According to him, with the advantage in the number of players, PSS Sleman should have been able to secure three points, but had to be satisfied with a draw against Borneo FC.

“We wanted to win today, so this draw doesn’t make us happy,” he said.

Wagner also stated that his team is now focused on preparing a strategy for the next match. He also gave appreciation to the players who showed commitment to the team’s situation.

“The players are very concerned about the current condition of the team. We are trying to find solutions every day,” he added.

In the match, Borneo FC took the lead first through a goal scored by Léo Gaúcho in the 25th minute.

In the second half, PSS Sleman managed to equalize after Borneo FC defender, Nduwarugira, scored an own goal in the 75th minute.

This draw makes Borneo FC perched at the top of the standings with a collection of 10 points from four matches. While PSS is still in last place with -2 because of the result of one draw, but was subject to a penalty of a point deduction.
