PSSI Reveals Agenda for the U22 Indonesian National Team After Winning the SEA Games

The U22 Indonesian National Team has several agendas after winning gold at the 2023 SEA Games, including preparing for the 2022 Asian Games. However, the Garuda Nusantara squad will take a break first after 1.5 months of preparing the team for the 2023 SEA Games. This was conveyed by a member of the Executive Committee ( Exco) PSSI, Arya Sinulingga.

“These children will take a day off because they haven’t returned to their hometowns, to their families for more than a month and a half. Even for Eid al-Fitr, they are still practicing. So some of them go straight home, and some will go straight home tomorrow,” said Arya, at Jakarta, Friday (19/5/2023).

Arya said, after the holiday was over, the U22 Indonesian National Team would undergo preparations for the 2022 Asian Games. The Asian Games were supposed to be held last year in China. However, the high situation of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Bamboo Curtain country has forced the 2022 Asian Games to be held on September 23-October 8 2023.

“After that, they will enter again, because they will enter the Asian Games. Mr. Erick said earlier that this team will enter the Asian Games,” said Arya.

Regarding the coach for the U22 national team for the 2022 Asian Games, Arya cannot yet answer whether Garuda Nusantara will still be trained by Indra Sjafri or Shin Tae-yong. In this regard, he asked the public to wait.

The U22 Indonesian national team won gold in the 2022 SEA Games after defeating Thailand 5-2. This achievement made Indonesia end its fast of gold in SEA Games football after 32 years.
