Qualifying for the 2024 Korea Masters Semifinals, Putri KW Admits She Had a Tense Match Against South Korean Representatives

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Indonesian women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani, admitted that she had to undergo a tense match before defeating South Korean representative Sim Yu-jin and ensuring a place in the semifinals of the 2024 Korea Masters, Friday (8/11/2024).

Playing at Iksan Gymnasium, Iksan, South Korea, the 21st ranked player had to fight in three games before beating Sim with a score of 21-16, 12-21 and 22-24. A tense match occurred in the third game when both players followed each other’s points before Putri finally secured victory in 57 minutes.

This was the Women’s first win over the sixth seed. In the two previous meetings Putri always lost.

In the semifinal round of the 2024 Korea Masters on Saturday (9/11/2024), Putri will be challenged by Chiu Pin-Chian from Taiwan. Chiu advanced to the semifinals of the Korea Open 2024 after beating Kim Min-sun in two games with a score of 21-16 and 21-14.

“Thank God for today’s results. The match was very tense from start to finish, I didn’t think I could win under these conditions. “I actually gave up in the third game, but I kept trying, fighting, how not to make my own mistakes because just one mistake Sim can win the match,” said Putri KW.

Putri admitted that she didn’t think anything about the match against Sim. He was just trying to get his shuttle in when he was far behind. He also tried to change his ways netting to bounce better and also play long to reduce the advantage of his opponent’s blows. Putri admitted that in the second and third games, Sim had actually read the game so he could dictate to her.

“It’s nice to be back in the top four, but I have to fight again tomorrow to get on the podium again,” said the player born in Tangerang.
